Beauty and skincare fulfilment: protect the product experience
FULFILMENT SCOUT · PRACTICAL GUIDES
A beauty order is often both a delivery and a brand experience. Choosing a fulfilment provider means checking how products are protected, how variants are identified and whether your presentation can be repeated reliably.
Use the checks below to compare what providers will actually do for your business.
Test your packaging with real products
Give the provider examples of glass bottles, pumps, jars and liquids in their retail packaging. Agree protection against movement and leakage and ask how extra packaging changes the packed dimensions. A visually attractive box is not enough if the product arrives damaged or the pack is too large for the intended delivery service.
Give similar variants distinct identifiers
Shade, fragrance, size and formulation can create products that look almost identical on a shelf. Use a separate SKU for every sellable variant and confirm how it is verified during picking. Provide photos as supporting information, not as a substitute for a consistent product identifier.
Write down the presentation rules
Create a short packing specification with the order of items, wrapping method, tissue, inserts and any gift message. Identify which rules apply to every order and which depend on the basket. Ask for a sample packed order and confirm the time or material charges for each option.
Explain product-specific restrictions
Tell providers about aerosols, alcohol-containing products or any goods needing particular storage or transport handling. Acceptance can vary by product, carrier and destination; obtain confirmation for your actual range. Where batch or expiry controls are needed, ask to see the process rather than relying on a broad category claim.
Plan promotions and returns
Explain how samples are allocated, what happens when a sample runs out and whether substitutions are allowed. Set inspection rules for returns, including broken seals and damaged retail packaging. Agree who decides whether an item can be resold, reworked or disposed of.
